WHAT IS BRING IT ON?

Bring It On, The North East Exhibition for Future Engineers, is targeted at young people aged 9-14. It aims to raise the aspirations of North East youngsters and contribute to closing the engineering skills gap in the region. We aim to do this by Educating young people about the engineering in their region, Inspiring them to want to be part of it and Informing them about what they need to do to become so.

Engineering companies exhibit in five zones representing the major engineering sectors in the region; Automotive, Rail and Aerospace; Creative & Digital Technology; Civil, Structural and Construction; Subsea, Oil, Gas, Renewables and Energy and Chemicals & Processing, PLUS new for 2022 a sixth zone ‘The Road to Net Zero’ to showcase the innovative engineering solutions local engineering companies are developing and implementing to help the UK deliver on its commitment to reach Net Zero emissions by 2050, find out more here.

OUR FOUNDING PRINCIPLES

Bring It On is non-profit making and no-one will pay to attend.

Bring It On serves the whole of the North East of England, from the Yorkshire Border to the Scottish Border, from the Pennines to the sea.

Only engineering companies with a physical North East presence are permitted to exhibit. These range from major multinationals to small SME’s.

All schools and engineering companies based in the North East are eligible to take part.

Bring it On is not financially ‘owned’ by any one organisation but is financed by donations from a wide range of mainly local funders.

To inspire young people, companies are encouraged to exhibit what they engineer and provide a diverse range of engineers, from all backgrounds, on their stands.

Local Branches of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, The Institution of Civil Engineers, The Institution of Chemical Engineers, The Institution of Engineering and Technology and the Institute of Measurement and Control provide support in the various zones as part of the ‘Inform’ agenda.

Three live exhibitions have been run, in 2017, 2018 and 2019. In 2020, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we delivered Virtual Bring It On, a series of 20 videos featuring North East based engineering companies and the engineers that work for them. In 2021 we delivered a packed virtual programme of activity on 4th November for schools to engage in from the classroom.

Our annual event, Bring It On North East took place on Thursday 4th November this year. Following the success of our virtual programme in 2020 we built on this to bring you a bigger, better and more interactive version. We had over 8000 students signed up from across the North East!
